The Black Cat.

Bored at the library, eating a banana. Om nom nom nom.
I am not a fan of superstitions. Walking under ladders, black cats, tipping over salt shakers. All that good stuff. Perhaps all the complications of today weren’t a case of bad luck. Maybe it’s just my mind telling myself that it is, and I’m just childishly contemplating the idea that maybe, just maybe it was bad luck. It’s possible that everything that happened today would have happened exactly as it did whether or not that black cat had passed me when I was on my way to Jess’s house this morning. Pfft. Bad luck? Nah. Just everyday minor complications.
On the way to school, I asked Jess if she was superstitious. She said that she wasn’t and I told her about the black cat and how, when it passed me, I said “Why! WHYYYY!” It’s not good at all to be superstitious.
So my nursing class was cancelled today so it was a great opportunity to go out.
Ok so here’s the supposed “bad luck” that had occurred today…
Jean drives over to Long Beach and we decide that we’re going to the Del Amo mall in Torrance instead of Lakewood. None of us are completely sure how to get there so we pretty much wing it. We get off at the wrong exit so we have to get back on the freeway.
When we make the right exit, we end up making the exactly the same wrong turn as we did last time. We have to turn around.
When we get to the mall, Jean doesn’t enter into the parking structure but keeps on driving, trying to find another parking place. We end up driving all around the mall, taking up about 15 minutes or so.
At the mall we just walked around. The shoes I want to buy for my mobster outfit are all scuffed up so I end up not buying it. Jess and Jean don’t buy anything except for those cute little cactus pup figurines.
Poor Jess feels sick from the black tea drink that she bought at surf city. :/
We head to the bathroom and see a huge pile of shit on the floor of the women’s restroom. We both gag. It’s pretty funny because Jess was already feeling sick to begin with and that poop on the floor wasn’t helping one bit. Lol.
When we leave the mall to head back to school, we take the wrong entrance despite the fact that on the way to the mall Jess pointed out “Oh there’s the entrance we take to get home.” :P As we drive, all of us are unsure about whether or not we are going the right way. We put our minds at ease because the signs that we pass by look oh so familiar. For about 20 minutes of driving the wrong way, we start to see landmarks that we have absolutely NO recollection of passing when we were on our way to the mall. We try to call people in hopes that at least one of them knows how to get to Long Beach or that they are by a laptop so they can mapquest it for us. We have to get off the freeway, which is packed, and we get back on, still going north.
Not many people pick up the phone, but we are able to get a hold of a few who help us. John, who lives in Torrance, tells us that we are going the wrong way. Still, Jean says that we’re going the right way. Jess calls other people and they say we’re going the wrong way also. I text ChaCha and they say that we need to go south instead of north.
We finally get off the freeway and go back in the opposite direction. Jess had already called her mom to pick us up and there is NO way that we are going to make it back to school in time.
There’s a lot of traffic on the way back. Jess is panicking, close to tears because her mom’s already waiting for us at school. We call Jess’s mom to tell her that Jess is still working on her chemistry quiz. Her mom says she’ll be grocery shopping.
We’re not even past Torrance yet and Jean’s car is VERY low on gas. Every time Jess reminds him of this, he grabs hold of his rosary for a moment, and continues driving.
Jess and Jean start arguing about who said what about the calling 411 issue that had occurred earlier. I feel sad because neither of them drop it and they go on for about 15 minutes. :<
Things are a bit quiet when Jean goes “I hope Stef doesn’t say ‘Guys… I needa pee.’” Like I did last time. haha. That would’ve been terrible if I did, especially since we were in traffic. XP
We don’t exit at Bellflower like most people told us, but we get off at Lakewood. We head in one direction when Jess tells us to head the other direction because she remembers passing the tunnel by the airport. “Don’t you remember the tunnel, Jean?” she says. Jean remembers the tunnel but doesn’t recall which way they were driving. Jess seems very confident that we are going the right way.
After a while, Jean asks is Jess was SURE that they were driving in the right direction. Jess begins to doubt herself and calls Michelle to see if we’re going the right way. It turns out that we weren’t and we turn around. Haha.
We finally get to school. Jess’s mom isn’t mad. She bought us some dinner. Both Jess and I knock out in the car.
Total time trying to get from the Del Amo mall to CSULB? 2 hours. :D
I honestly don’t think the crap that happened today was because of a stupid cat. I just wanted to have an interesting headline to put up. LOL.
I actually DID have fun today except for the whole traffic thing. Lol. Well, even the traffic thing was kind of fun because we laughed at ourselves for saying
“Yeah, we’re going the right way. Yeah, we passed that street on the way to the mall.”
“Does that street name sound familiar?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh, I remember passing that Nissan billboard.”
Then as we realize we’re going the wrong way…
“Stef, do you remember passing this??? I do NOT remember.”
“Um… maybe we weren’t paying attention to it…?”
Haha. Yeah.
Fun today. lol. No lie. :P Love them kids.
A picture of me and best friend Jessy at our second home! XD
